Union Elections 2023

Every year, you elect over 20 Student Representatives to represent all 17,000+ students at Stirling in the next academic year to the University and beyond. From part-time Volunteer Officers in each of the Zones to four, full-time, paid Sabbatical Officers.

Union President

The Union President is the political lead of the organisation, representing students' interests to University staff, local and national Government and within the National Union of Students.

Sports President

The Sports President leads the Sports Union, working with all teams and athletes. They also work with the University to improve on-campus sporting facilities, develop teams and individuals and most importantly, #bleedgreen!

Vice President Communities

The Vice President Communities is responsible for Clubs and Societies, working with individual clubs to improve their membership and activities, and increasing engagement between the student body and the wider Stirling community. They also work across housing, sustainability and volunteering.

Vice President Education

The Vice President Education represents the academic interests of students, ensuring that you have a positive learning experience at Stirling. They oversee the academic representative structure of the Union, including the Faculty Officer and Module/Programme Rep networks.

Alternative Pathways Officer

The Alternative and Pathways Volunteer Officer identifies and organises campaigns to raise awareness of the relevant issues affecting alternative pathways students and to work alongside the Vice President Education, other Education Zone students and Union staff, on projects to better represent alternative pathways students within the Students’ Union and build an engaged, active community.

The Arts Volunteer Officer is responsible for ensuring the interests of all existing and new Arts Societies, founded on a close working relationship with representatives of each.

Care Experienced Students Officer

The Care Experienced Students Volunteer Officer identifies and organises campaigns to raise awareness of the relevant issues affecting care experienced students and to work alongside the Vice President Education, other Education Zone students and Union staff, on projects to better represent care experienced students within the Students’ Union and an engaged, active community.

Co-Curricular Officer

The Co-Curricular Volunteer Officer liaises with clubs and societies, charitable organisations, community projects and volunteering. They also work to promote the opportunities and skills that being involved in co-curricular activities can bring.

Engagement Officer

The Engagement Volunteer Officer works directly with relevant Sabbatical Officers to continually promote and develop the academic representative network and create a climate of active engagement through consultation with students in order to secure educational change.

Health & Wellbeing Officer

The Health and Wellbeing Volunteer Officer is responsible for the promotion of physical, mental, social and sexual well-being to all students. In collaboration with the Sports President, they are expected to run campaigns that focus on students' well-being.

The Mature Students Volunteer Officer identifies and organises campaigns to raise awareness of the relevant issues affecting mature students and to work alongside the Vice President Education, other Education Zone students and Union staff, on projects to better represent mature students within the Students’ Union and an engaged, active community.

The Media Volunteer Officer ensures that the Media Societies are working together and acts as an effective link between the Executive Council and the Media Societies.

Parents and Carers Officer

The Parents and Carers Volunteer Officer identifies and organises campaigns to raise awareness of the relevant issues affecting students who are parents and/or carers and to work alongside the Vice President Education, other Education Zone students and Union staff, on projects to better represent students who have parental and/or caring responsibilities within the Students’ Union and an engaged, active community.

Sports Union Communications Officer

The Sports Union Communications Volunteer Officer will communicate the activities of the Sports Zone to the student body and a wider audience. They will also represent the views of the membership on sports activities and assist the Sports President in fulfilling their remit.

Sports Union Participation and Engagement Officer

The Sports Participation and Engagement Officer is responsible for encouraging all students to participate in Sports Zone activities, particularly those who have not traditionally engaged with the Zone. They are also expected to assist the Sports President in promoting employability activities and campaigns to clubs and teams.

Sustainability Officer

The Sustainability Volunteer Officer works to champion the Union's environmental campaigns and activities whilst embedding the Union's work on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
