Academic representatives

Our Academic Reps are the foundation of student representation by gathering feedback on your learning experience and are expected to be your voice on a day-to-day basis. They make sure that your education is the best it can be as they work in partnership with the University to continually improve the student learning experience through the Student-Staff Voice Committee.

What do Academic reps do?

Academic Reps take student feedback on the academic experience and raise issues with university staff.

They chair meetings with staff members from your division and discuss issues.

Steps to becoming a rep

  1. Complete the Independent Online Training Module. This should take you less than one hour, but take it at your own pace. It involves tutorials such as how to register as an academic rep and how to upload your hours for transcript recognition.
  2. Complete the activity task to complete your online training to confirm attendance and attach it to the registration form.
  3. You will also have to attend a face-to-face/online training session.

By becoming an Academic Rep, you will:

  • Build confidence in skills, including communication, public speaking, leadership, and data analysis
  • Gain recognition through your Academic Transcript, Volunteering Hub, Saltire Award, My Stirling Award, as well as on your CV
  • Meet new people, including other students and staff throughout the institution
  • Receive training on how to gather feedback and give a voice to students just like you!

Our Faculty Officers.

The team of Faculty officers are paid Senior Academic Reps who:

  • Attend Education and Student Experience Committee
  • Escalate student issues
  • Collaborate with SU and Academic Reps as senior representatives
