Shinty

Who we are

Stirling University Shinty is a mixed-gender club with both a Men’s and Women’s team, competing in the Scottish Student Shinty Leagues.

Whether you’re completely new to the sport or an experienced player, everyone is welcome. No experience or equipment is required - we’ll provide everything you need to get started.

Alongside training, we play weekly games in the SSS Leagues and take part in a range of tournaments throughout the year, including the Littlejohn & McHue Cups, Lewis Sixes and our own club-hosted Sixes tournament.

We also have regular socials throughout the year, as well as our annual Shinty Ceilidh, giving everyone plenty of opportunities to get involved both on and off the pitch.

What Is Shinty?

Shinty is a fast-paced Scottish contact sport played with a stick and ball. The aim is simple - score more goals than your opposition in 90 minutes.

The Camanachd Cup is Scotland’s premier shinty cup competition, bringing together the best teams from across the country.
