Power Lifting

Welcome to Powerlifting!

Powerlifting is a strength sport with a focus on the Squat, the Bench Press, and the Deadlift. It is a great sport to introduce people to strength training. The club is home to people of all levels from beginners to international level competitors.

The club continues to grow on a competitive side, largely due to our success in recent years. As reigning Scottish University Champions for three consecutive years, our aim in 2024/25 is to retain this title and be more successful on the British National Stage. We currently have 5 Scottish University Champions, a British University Champion, and a bronze medalist at World University Championships. The club continues to provide a platform for new lifters to get into the sport to not only grow powerlifting in the universty but also across Scotland. 

Currently, we offer the following to our members:

• Programmes for new and returning lifters that were created by licensed PTs and experienced powerlifting coaches
• Competition prep coaching from our qualified and experienced coaches who helped lead us to success in previous years
• Competition day handling for everyone at British or Scottish university championships, and at other competitions when possible
• Paid entry to either British university championships and/or Scottish university championships
• Access to the elite sport high performance facilities at the university 3x a week (includes IPF spec power bars and benches)
• A standard annual membership
• Access to our what's app group chat
• Regular social events
