Muay Thai Boxing

Who we are

Welcome to the SUMT Sports Union Page!

We are the Stirling University Muay Thai Boxing Club. We have been in the Sports Union for a number of years, providing students and members of the public a chance to experience quality thai boxing training, competitions and an immersive introduction into Muay Thai culture and traditions.

Muay Thai (also known as Thai Boxing) is the national sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. Muay Thai was developed several hundred years ago as a form of close-combat that utilises the entire body as a weapon. This martial art is known as "the art of eight limbs" because of the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins.

The team consists of all levels of experience and fitness. From complete newbies who have never thrown a punch in their life to aspiring fighters competing on the national circuit. Muay Thai is great for self defence, fitness and above all stress relief!

We have a range of training sessions throughout the week that run Tuesday to Friday;

- Tuesdays and Wednesdays are a combination of technical and fitness-focused sessions

- Thursdays focus on the clinching aspect of Muay Thai

- Fridays are allocated to sparring sessions

Hope to see you all soon!
