SUWHC is one of the largest and most inclusive sports club at Stirling University! We have 6 teams that cater for all abilities and experience.
On Saturday's, we have 3 teams competing in Scottish Hockey Leagues. Our 1XI compete in National League, while our 2XI compete in the Scottish Champinoship League 2 after being promoted following an unbeaten 23/24 season. Our 3XI are competing in Midlands league for the first time ever during the 25/26 season!
Five of our teams compete within BUCS during the week on a Wednesday. Our 1XI are in 1A and 2XI in tier 4, while our 3XI, 4XI and 5XI teams are in tier 5. On top of our 5 competitive teams we also have our social 6s! Made up of members of varying abilities, we have girls who have just started hockey, or picking up the stick again after some time off. The 6XI is a fun team for those who wish to develop and keep up exercise during uni, while also buliding social connections!!
We have a massive social emphasis within the club and have regular events arranged both during the day and at night. Wednesday night socials are a common theme for our girls, and joint socials with other sports teams means you get the chance to make lots of friends throught the sports union. We often organise friendly matches with our male counterpart and local clubs, take part in charity tournaments, and have our infamous Derby Day's.
At SUWHC you will get the opportunity to make the most of your university experience. Every year we get members qualified in umpiring, coaching, and first aid training. There are opportunities to get invloved in coaching local schools, umpiring across Scotland and getting involved with the local community. Hockey is a fantastic way to meet people when you move to university, and you're guaranteed to make friends for life.
Anyone is welcome to join the club, with the opportunity to play competitively or join in purely for the social aspect, we've got a place for everyone at SUWHC!
