Update on Sports Union Awards Ball 2020 and Clubs & Socs Ball 2020

We are sad to announce that this year our much anticipated Sports and Clubs balls will not be going ahead due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our students is, as always, of the utmost importance to us and as such we cannot go ahead with both of these events due to the need for social distancing. This is from Government guidance which you can read more about here.

Please read below for info on each individual ball and refund information.

Clubs & Societies Awards Ball 2020

The 2020 ball will now sadly not take place at Dunblane Hilton Hydro on 9th April. We are currently working on a fun and interactive way to announce winners and runners up online and will update on this in due course.  We'd love any suggestions your club may have, please send these to elaine.shepherd@stir.ac.uk

For current ticket holders, you have the option to either keep your ticket and we will honour it for the 2021 Clubs & Societies Ball, which will take place on 1st April 2021 or you are able to apply for a refund via our refund form. This will be paid directly into your bank.  The deadline for applying for refunds is 1st May 2020 but we will be trying to process these as soon as we can. All Union Staff are working from home to continue to provide the best possible service to our members. If you wish to keep your ticket, you have no further action to take at the moment. You are very welcome and encouraged to keep your ticket even if you are a 2020 graduate, we'd love to see you there! If you wish to apply for the refund, please use this form by the 1st of May 2020.

If you have further questions about the ball and refunds, please email Elaine Shepherd elaine.shepherd@stir.ac.uk

Sports Union Awards Ball 2020

The 2020 ball will now sadly not take place at Edinburgh Corn Exchange on 3rd April. We are currently working to find a way to announce winners online and will update on this in due course.

We've taken on board some student feedback on the refunding of tickets for Sports Ball. Please see new information below.

  • For current ticket holders, you have the option to either keep your ticket and we will honour it for the next Sports Union Ball, which will take place in April 2021 or you are able to apply for a refund via our refund form.
  • This refund will be paid directly into your bank.
  • The deadline for applying for refunds is 1st May 2020 and we will be trying to process these as soon as we can. All Union Staff are working from home to continue to provide the best possible service to our members.
  • If you have already applied for a refund, please email alban.dickson@stir.ac.uk to cancel it.
  • If you wish to keep your ticket, you have no further action to take at the moment.
  • You are very welcome and encouraged to keep your ticket even if you are a 2020 graduate, we'd love to see you there!
  • Please note, however, that the price of the ticket may change for the 2021 ball depending on venue costs, therefore there may be a small increase in the ticket price which you will be required to pay to attend. This will be communicated next year as soon as we know the details.
  • If you wish to apply for the refund, please use this form by the 1st of May 2020.?

Those who previously held a ticket for the 2020 ball will also be given priority (along with final year students and committee) to buy a ticket for themselves for the 2021 Sports Union Awards Ball. This includes 2020 graduates who were ticket holders for the 2020 ball.

If you have further questions about the ball and refunds, please email Alban Dickson alban.dickson@stir.ac.uk
