The Students’ Union has been working alongside University colleagues during recent discussions on the impact of the growing COVD-19 outbreak. Please be assured in all of these discussions, that the impact on students is first and foremost in our thinking. We’ve been working with the University on FAQs around Coronavirus and these can be found here.

Given the decision to suspend face to face teaching and move to alternative forms of assessment for examinations, here at the Students’ Union, we’ve been working on what this means for student activity and the provision of services for the remainder of semester and want to outline these for you.

Firstly, we recognise the unique nature of our campus and wider Stirling network and want to encourage everyone to help support one another during this challenging time. Whilst some students may naturally chose to go home and study remotely, many will remain in Stirling and we encourage everyone to be as supportive as possible to one another.

The Union’s commercial outlets will close from Wednesday 18th March. This is as a result of the move to online teaching, in line with Government advice and to protect our staff. At this point in time, the Union Shop located in the Atrium, will remain open until Friday. Look out for further news to follow on the Food Hive.

Colleagues in respective areas have been in touch with Clubs and Societies and Sports teams around the cancellation of any Atrium, room or external bookings which may have been planned. We are working with the venues for Clubs and Sports Balls at the moment and will publish details on our website as and when we have further information on these.

We are working towards office based staff being able to support students by working remotely, so whilst we would encourage any students with queries to get in touch by email (you can do so at We would advise students to avoid coming to the Union offices if possible. Please bear in mind, this may cause a delay in dealing with your enquiry, but we will do all we can to assist as soon as possible.

We recognise that these situations are coming at a difficult time for students. Should you need to speak to a member of the Union team, please do so by contacting the relevant individual from our website here:

Your Union Officers remain available and contact details for them can be found here:

If you are looking for Advocacy, please contact our Advocacy & Inclusion Development Co-Ordinator Lynn Maher at:

The University’s Student Support Service can be contacted from their website here

Stay safe, be sensible and although the ways to reach us may have changed, the Union is still here for you if you need us.
