The University of Stirling Students’ Union recognises the intention of the Universities and College Union (UCU) to undertake 4 weeks of intermittent strike action from 24th February 2020 to the 17th March 2020. This is due to two separate legal disputes, one on pensions and one on pay and working conditions. The dates that have been set are unique to those of national UCU strikes in order to cause maximum impact. We understand this is not a decision UCU members have taken lightly, therefore in line with Union policy, the Students’ Union offers its support to UCU during the industrial action.
However, we do anticipate that there will be a direct impact on day to day teaching activities at the University, particularly at this time in the semester. Although disruption can be expected, we would like to emphasise that student welfare is paramount to us during this time and we will continue to act within the best interests of our membership. Further information can be found in the University's FAQ's for students available here.
The Students’ Union will continue to work with UCU and the University during the strike action to ensure that there are minimal impacts on students learning, teaching and wellbeing. Please be assured that the University remains open, access to library will remain throughout the action, and that students will be informed of cancelled classes as soon as possible.
Further guidance and information on the likely impact of the strike will be released by the Union as and when we have it. Should you have any particular questions or concerns about this action, please direct them to email@example.com
