Calais photography exhibition by Abdul Saboor

Wednesday 15 March 2023 10:30am - 6:30pm

Macroberts Workhouse

Come and see the photography exhibition on the situation in Calais by Abdul Saboor, from Wednesday 15th March at 10:30 am. You can find it at the Workhouse in Macroberts.

Abdul is an Afghan photographer and former refugee who in 2015 left his country due to Taliban insurgents and spent two years making his way to Europe.

He started taking pictures of the lives of migrants on a mobile phone until a charity gave him a camera. "There was no one to photograph, to document what was happening, I decided to be a witness of our journey and show to the world, show to the people how difficult it is when you leave your home."

He now lives in Paris, and works between Calais and Toulouse, where he teaches at the University of 'Les Beaux-Arts'. He has exhibitions all over France and around Europe. Having firsthand experienced life as a refugee, his pictures reflect all the fear and sadness that people in this situation feel.
