Liberation Lawn

Thursday 01 October 2020 10am - 3pm

Union, outside

*Please note this event has been rescheduled to 1st October*

Liberation is: The seeking of equal status and freedom from all forms of oppression.

Discrimination against students’ identities can affect their participation, achievement, retention and progression in education. We work hard to champion Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in everything we do. We have 4 part-time Equalities Officers who work on projects across the year for our four identified liberation groups - LGBTQ+, BAME, Women and Disabled students, headed up by your Union President Amy.

We're spending this day celebrating our incredible groups on campus who campaign, represent and advocate for change. Identifying people, friends and allies are all welcome to come along and find out more as we fly the flags for these groups.

If that seems like a heavy or touchy subject to you, there are plenty of easy ways to quickly educate yourself on why it is so important for many groups in society. Read more here on what we do here.

Safety advice: This event will be managed with a socially distanced queue (if numbers require it) and a limited number of 2 people visiting a stall at once. We recommend wearing your mask whilst at the stall and in the queue. Hand sanitiser will be provided. Find out more about the University's Campus Pledge to keep yourself and others safe here

*All Union events are subject to change or cancellation due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and we continue to work closely with the University of Stirling and Scottish Government advice to ensure everything we do is safe for our students. Some events are also weather-dependent and may be cancelled or changed last minute. We will communicate any changes on this website and our social media channels.
