NUS Representative

The National Union of Students UK (NUS UK) has gone through signifcant reforms to it's democratic structure in recent years. Previously, Stirling SU would have sent NUS Delegates to NUS UK and NUS Scotland Conference in the spring to vote for NUS Officers and to pass policy.

NUS no longer holds NUS UK Conference, instead having a single conference for each of the 4 constitutent Nations - Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England. These are now held in Autumn/Winter and are for creating policy and setting the overall direction of the organisation.

The role has changed as well. Instead of being a delegate (our representative to NUS) the title is now NUS Representative and the aim is for the role to be a communication channel between NUS, the SU, and the student body. Whilst the role is aimed at being year round, the primary focus will still be attending NUS Scotland Conference on the 12th and 13th November. The location has yet to be set, but the SU will cover necessary transport and accomodation costs.

We have four spaces for this role. However, in line with SU policy made at a recent General Meeting, the President retains one of the positions, so there are 3 spaces for election. As we have not updated our constitution, the title at this election is still NUS Delegate.
