About the Club
Stirling University Golf Club is open to golfers of all abilities, backgrounds and ages. Whether it’s your first time picking up a golf club or you’re competing at an elite level, the club offers a perfect opportunity to develop your game, make good friends and become part of one of the University’s most successful sports clubs.
Founded in 1981, Stirling University Golf Club has built a proud tradition of sporting excellence. In the history of the club, they have produced numerous international golfers, establishing itself as one of the strongest university golf programmes in the UK. The club’s first team are former British and European University Champions and continue to compete at the highest level of university golf, securing Stirling’s reputation as a centre of excellence for sport.
We are fortunate to have our own facility on campus dedicated to golf. Complete with outdoor practice areas and our new Trackman Studio. New members are encouraged to get involved by attending social events, practicing at the golf centre, and embracing the club's competitive yet friendly atmosphere. It’s rare to find the golf centre empty, providing plenty of opportunities to meet other members, dial in your game and become part of the club from day one.
We have five competitive teams representing the University in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues. Our first team competes in the BUCS Premier North Division and continues to set the standard of excellence for university golf.
The teams train regularly at the golf centre on campus, located near Alexander Court accommodation. Most of our golf is played at Muckhart Golf Club, roughly a 25-minute drive from the University. Home fixtures are played at Muckhart GC (2nd-5th Teams) and at Alyth Golf Club (1st Team). With each squad having around 10-12 players, the competitive spirit is abundant across all teams.
As day rolls into evening, the social side of the club comes alive. Whether it's post-match meals, socials or evenings spent in some of Stirling’s finest watering holes, members quickly build strong bonds and camaraderie. This year the club expects to have 70 competitive and social members.
The Golf Club is built on being an inclusive and welcoming community that is always looking to embrace new members. Whether you’re hoping to compete for the University, improve your golf, or even just to meet new people and enjoy the social “hybrid” athlete lifestyle. There’s a place for you at Stirling University Golf Club.
