Many of you may be aware that the University is restructuring its professional services and faculties.

We have been repeatedly assured that these changes will not impact students, and that the faculty restructuring will take effect as of next academic year. We have also been assured that students within each of the current faculties have been emailed to be consulted throughout this process. We ask that you check your emails and please let us know if this has or has not been the case.

As your Sabbatical Officers, we are disappointed with the communication from the University to students  which we feel has prevented us from supporting you throughout the process.

Here are all the exact changes the university is planning to make:

The University’s Professional Services are reorganising:

  • The Estates and Campus Services Directorate has merged with the Commercial Services Directorate;

  • The Directorate of Internationalisation and Partnerships will merge with the Directorate of Communications, Marketing and Recruitment in December;

  • The Safety, Environment and Continuity team and both the Academic Development and Researcher Development teams have transferred to the Directorate of Human Resources and Organisational Development;

  • The Technical Services team has transferred to the Information Services Directorate;

  • Within the Directorate of Student, Academic and Corporate Services, Student and Faculty Operations (SFO) have transitioned from five Faculty facing teams to four, to align with the new academic Faculty structure – and, along with Student Skills and Employability, are joining the Student Services department.

And the University will transition from four Faculties to three Faculties plus the Stirling Business School:

  • Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

  • Faculty of Health, Sport and Society

  • Faculty of Natural Sciences

  • Stirling Business School

The Union will continue to work with the university to ensure these changes have no or minimal impact to your studies.
