SU statement on passing of new schedules

At the Stirling Students' Union General Meeting on 11th of December 2025, union members voted to adopt a new set of schedules governing the running of the SU.

These new schedules range from our democratic structures and elections procedures, our disciplinary processes, as well as how our clubs and societies operate. They are a major step forward in the Students' Union’s development and have been created through working closely with the student body as well as reflecting best practice across the student movement.

These new schedules will come into effect over the coming months, and all will be in place and operating before the start of the academic year in September 2026. Schedule six (the new disciplinary procedures) takes effect immediately, for example, and we will shortly be launching nominations for our elections to take place in Spring 2026, which will reflect the changes outlined in the first three schedules.

Not every part of schedules will be immediately brought in at the same time. For example, we will be seeking to hold a number of student council meetings between now and the end of the academic year. Voting members of those will compromise as closely as we can based on our current structures. However, Zone meetings and Zone committees will continue to happen through this next semester as planned, with the new Executive Committee taking their place from the start of the next academic year.

More detail will be announced throughout semester two, but we are really pleased to see such support from students for these new schedules and look forward to fully implementing them, working to ensure that they engage, enthuse, and represent students as well as we believe they can.
