At the Union General Meeting on Thursday 4th October, Astrid (Union President) and Jamie (VP Communities) gave students an update on their on-going work to improve student experience in regards to bus travel.
Two weeks ago First Bus, the University and the Union met together to discuss on-going difficulties students were facing with bus regularity, service provision and overcrowding. The Union and University gave First 4 weeks to stabilise their service and implement measures they assured would deliver for students.
Last week, the Union held a consultation with students over their experience with First, which attracted more than 200 responses (you can view the previous news article here). The plan is to repeat this survey toward the end of the improvement period, and gauge whether service has indeed improved.
The Union this week also met with the Provost (Mayor) of Stirling Council Christie Simpson, along with representatives from the local government’s Scheduling and Traffic departments. Student complaints were relayed, and a joint meeting between First, Stirling Council, Union and University representatives is now planned for the coming weeks.
Our initial survey is now closed, but if you have any complaints over bus service in the meantime please feel free to send these to https://www.firstbusfeedback.com/mybus/en.
