There's Still No Debate, Re-elect Cait!

Hi, I’m Caitlin and I am re-running, to be your Sports President for 2019/20. I've been in the position for a year and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I am a positive voice and a passionate believer that students should always come first, and I will continue to work tirelessly to achieve this.

The past year has been incredible, and I want to continue to ensure that the Sports Union is as strong and diverse as ever. We are currently 10th in BUCS, the highest we have ever been! Through building personal relationships with clubs I've ensured that the Sports Union is accessible to all and that will remain a priority as we strive towards moving up the table.

Celebrating Success

You said you wanted more members to enjoy Sports Ball. I listened, and added 100 extra tickets this year. Tickets sold out in just 2 days, a testament to the incredible Stirling community we have strengthened this year.

A large part of my previous manifesto was building relationships and encouraging collaboration between sporting and non-sporting communities - Bleed Green TV has done just that! This joint venture has ensured the fantastic achievements of our athletes and sports teams get the exposure they deserve, whilst enhancing our #BleedGreen spirit.

Whether you are taking part at recreational level or as an Olympian, everyone has a vital part to play in our Sports Union. I believe in recognising achievements, and will continue joint projects with the media societies, to shout about our huge wins, talented teams and sporting champions across all levels.

Club Development

I'm currently working to implement a programme so that clubs work to a five-year plan. Providing clubs with a suitable mentor and framework for improvement that will create strong, sustainable clubs that work for everyone. I want to continue this as I know it will make an incredible difference.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

This year, I shook up our November health campaign by introducing #stirchallenge, an initiative set to increase participation in physical activity and encourage creativity throughout the whole student body.

Sport is a tremendous vehicle to improve physical and mental wellbeing. I want to continue to champion this through come-and-try sessions, providing new and exciting opportunities for everyone whilst encouraging students to see sport as a practical means of improving their own health & wellbeing.

Budget Reallocation

I will continue to fight for equity amongst all clubs. I will restructure the way that funds are allocated and are available to ensure that every club gets a fair opportunity to succeed.

Continuity throughout the re-development

The redevelopment will ensure that we have world class facilities, so that sport can be enjoyed at every level. I've been on the project board for the past year and with the connections I’ve already made I will ensure students are at the forefront of every decision. I will continue to provide a strong voice for students ensuring sports teams are well informed and can continue with as little disruption possible.
