healthy body healthy mind

Your Students’ Union is proud to be a part of the Healthy Body Healthy Mind award, an initiatve led by Scottish Student Sport which focuses on the link between physical activity, smoking prevention and mental health.

what is it?

The award is a partnership between ASH Scotland, NUS Scotland and SAMH. Healthy Body Healthy Mind supports colleges and universities in improving student and staff well-being and inspires positive changes on campus. The University of Stirling had previously achieved 4 star status before the transformation into the new Bronze, Silver and Gold structure.

how do we get involved?

The Students Union organises regular Steering Group meetings which are attended by colleague from University of Stirling Sport, Student Support Services, Faculty of Health Sciences & Sport and - most importantly! - students like you. We want to hear your ideas for new projects and help shape our activities on campus. You don't have to be an elected officer or club representative either, just get in touch with Sophie Charlton at sophie.charlton@stir.ac.uk to find out when the next meeting is!

how can my club play a part?

Our clubs, societies and sport teams already do a huge amount of awareness raising or charitable work in support of the Healthy Body Healthy Mind priorities. If you are planning a campaign or event that is in support of smoking prevention, physical activity or mental health then get in touch so we can work with you! Contact your Sports President for more info, sports.union@stir.ac.uk.

We also offer regular Scotland's Mental Health First Aid courses, particuarly targetting student club committees.

If you are a smoker and want to quit then you can get help from your GP, the pharmacy on campus, by calling Smokeline 0800 84 84 84 or going to www.canstopsmoking.com.
