A TV Production Masters student with more than 5 years experience at Stirling University, I have been the Union’s Communities Officer and a student ambassador. I am currently Vice Chair of the Disabled Students’ Association of Stirling and Private Accommodation Officer at Stirling Students’ Tenants Union.

These are my priorities to help Stirling students succeed.

Accommodation

  • Push to increase monetary support for students in halls of residence
  • Work with Accommodation Services to improve maintenance of halls in areas like cleaning access and repair of fixtures and fittings
  • Expand networking, information and support to students across university halls of residence and private flats, and work with tenants’ union on accommodation matters
  • Develop student life cards in student accommodation welcome packs, offering advice on everyday household and community tasks like banking, laundry, and cooking, and signposting for Union and university resources and support

Transport

  • Review and expand bus service access for students
  • Campaign to reinstate and promote shuttle bus, or suitable alternative, to assist student movement between university buildings
  • Increase bicycle racks at campus and halls, and review their security measures
  • Work to improve access for electric vehicles like e-bikes and electric cars

Accessibility and Wellbeing

  • Work with the university to expand access to mental wellbeing staff and resources to students, inside and outside the university
  • Hold ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ events, in conjunction with the sports union, to improve mental and physical wellbeing, including group walks and board game days
  • Increase signposting on campus for rooms, lecture theatres and university departments
  • Improve disabled student navigation of campus during construction works
  • Introduce quiet hours in Union spaces and commercial outlets

Student life

  • Maximise study space during construction works
  • Expand access to e-books and reduce reliance on physical books
  • Improve inclusivity for trans students in classrooms, societies, toilets and changing facilities
  • Expand sanitary products access in bathrooms
  • Promote gender and racial diversity of key figures in curricular materials and literary-based events
  • Work to improve integration of international and postgraduate students into Stirling community, including with social mixer events
  • Hold events with Citizens’ Advice, offering guidance in areas like work, housing and immigration rights and support available

Environment

  • Lobby Stirling University to set net zero carbon emissions targets
  • Campaign to expand water fountain access on campus
  • Expand recycling bins across campus and in halls of residence
  • Reduce single-use plastics at university catering outlets
