Who we are

CHESS CLUB FAQ

What do you do at chess club?

Most of our meetings are relaxed gatherings where members can socialise, play untimed chess games, and generally goof around. At least once a semester there will be an opportunity for more serious play in a timed tournament, where prizes will be up for grabs!

Do I have to be good at chess to join?

Rest assured that no matter what your skill level is, you'll fit right in! You don't even have to know how to play chess (we can teach you that).

I'm good at chess though - are you all scrubs?

No! Some of our members are tournament winning, king stomping machines! If you want a challenge, you'll definitely be able to find it with us!

How does this club meet up?

We meet every Thursday from 7 - 9pm, primarily in person. Online play is also available via the group Discord (Join here: https://discord.gg/7rtbFEAt9u).

The room this year has CHANGED and is Cottrell 2A11

Does attendence require membership purchase?

If after one or two visits you plan on becoming a regular - YES!

Memberships keep the club alive and allow us to organise cool stuff for you to enjoy. Our memberships will cover you for the whole academic year and are only £5 each. That's less than one night out! Buy your membership using the buttons above, just below Horsey and our email address.
