Hello friends! I am Jessica Logan, a fourth year Animal Biology student, and I want to be your v.p. communities. I have been involved in numerous societies over my time here and been on committee for many as well so I have always been super involved in the union as well as being very passionate about what goes on. This position has been a dream of mine for many years and I really believe that I have the skills and the abilities to really make students’ lives better over the next year.
I have a lot that I want to do in the union this year
- Work to ensure that Students as Researchers have opportunities available in all schools, increase opportunities for everyone
- Collaborate with school officers to liaise with departments to encourage more club collaborations to ensure that department specific clubs are gaining employability
- Enhance transcripts by making all club committee positions on your transcript and volunteering such as ALS on transcript
- Make V-Awards bigger. The recognition is really deserved.
- Work with the careers development centre to have careers and specific employability festivals for all schools
- Work with ALS and clubs to have more on campus events in venue, people on halls need more events near them and we have such fantastic facilities
- Work to find space for club storage, particularly after 5pm when office is closed
- Have a meat-free Monday in the union to promote environmental, with more vegan and vegetarian options every day
- Better recycling facilities and zero waste campaigns
- Promote next-bike on campus and on student portals
- Ensure smaller clubs have better access to society spotlight and other promotion opportunities
- Work towards implementing the fifth sabbatical officer
- Work to ensure better lighting on campus
- Better deals for club and society members in the union
- Work to improve the availability of gender neutral toilets, they are inaccessible after 4pm
- More community volunteer opportunities with the expansion of v-team
- Encourage clubs to work with ALS and outside community to boost engagement and membership
- Work to improve students as volunteers and clubs as volunteers
Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto and I hope you will consider me for the position. Much love. x
