Manifesto:
“My name is Ashley Cameron, I`m a free education
campaigner and I`m running for the position of VP Education.
I want to ensure that you get the most out of your time here
at Stirling, just like I have over the last 3 years. I`m running
to become your VP of Education because I believe I can help
bring positive change for you, by working with you on issues
relating to your education. Read on to find out what my main
priorities would be if elected as your VP Education”

#Empowerment: students should know that their voice is valued and can make a
difference. If elected I want to help you enhance your skills and confidence to make the
changes that you want to see here at Stirling and build a strong network of education
activists.

#WideningAccess: All students here at Stirling should feel welcomed and included. If elected
I will ensure that our union is accessible and approachable for all, whilst also working on
improving these key issues:
  •  Accessibility of buildings and venues for disabled students
  • Child care accessibility and flexibility for student parents
  •  Engagement and support for student Nurses
  •  Educating the university and wider community on the issues that children in care and young carer students face in education

#StudentSupport: If elected I will launch the largest series of engagement and consultation
events focused on student support. This will take into account the needs of every student
on our campus. Through this we can campaign to ensure that this university`s structures
supports every student to be all that they truly can be. Issues on student support that I plan
to raise with the university include;
  • Exam bunching
  • Assignment deadlines
  •  Module coordination
  •  Summer support
What happens outside a lecture theatre can impact your performance inside it. I will commit
to supporting other sabbatical officers and executive officers on any campaigns that relate
to your education here at Stirling.

My Track Record:
  •  4 years representing children who have grown up in care on a national level
  •  1 year representing non-traditional students through NUS Scotland Student Executive Committee
  •  Successfully influenced the Children and Young People Scotland Act 2014
  •  Student of the year winner 2014

So, if you like what you see on my manifesto and you believe like I do that your educational
experiences do matter, then please vote Ashley Cameron Number 1, to be your VP
Education.
I look forward to speaking with you and answering any questions that you may
have on my campaign and priorities.
