Who Am I?
Hello my name is Emma Binns. I am currently in my final year of Criminology and Sociology (I’m not ready to leave Stirling just yet) so that’s why I’m running for VP of Communities in this year’s Union Elections.
Why Am I Running?
Over the past few years I have attended the LGBT+ Society as a member, I then was lucky enough to be voted in as Treasurer and I went on to become the President! Therefore I have the experience of not only being a member of a society but also being on a committee and running a society which I will use to my advantage to guide and support our ever growing clubs and societies in the best way I can. I not only want to support clubs and societies, I also want to support other key issues that affect the student body. My plans for the upcoming year are big but I need your support to fulfil these effectively. We as a student body can join together to not only enhance our individual experiences at Stirling but to pave the way for future generations. I believe we have an amazing opportunity to become an outstanding union, engaging and providing amazing opportunities for you as students.
When students think of fun I want them to think of the union. Whatever a student is interested in the union should be their first port of call.
In short, the union should be EVERY student’s best friend.
What Do I Want To Achieve?
I have five key points that I am determined to achieve by the end of my reign as VP Comms which are as follows;

- Mental Health Awareness
- Healthy Eating= Healthy Mind
- De-stressify room
- Disability Awareness
- Nightline Service
- Loch Walk 4 Charity
- Support for ALS
SUGOGREEN:
- Clothes Swap
- Donation Binns (see what I did there?) in corporation with ALS
- Green and Blue Space Expansion
- Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free Produce
- Local Food Bank link with the Union
SUCLUBSSOCIETIESBLEEDGREEN:
- Clubs and Socs out in Sport
- Clubs and Socs in Sport Charity Event
- ClubSocBleedGreen Mixer Event
- ClubSocBleedGreen Charity Ball
SUCLUBSANDSOCS:
- Club Dryathlon
- Sign Up Incentives (Union deals, deals out with the Union such as Nandos)
- Clubs and Socs Promos
- Expand on Volunteering Awards
- Committee training such as Mental Health Awareness, optional training opportunities for committees.
SUEQUALITY:
- HeForSheStandTogether (Equality for all)
- Stand Up Stand Out Campaign (LGBT+)
- Find Your Voice Campaign (Lad campaign, Anti- rape campaign, Cat-calling campaign)
- Asking For It? No. Campaign (Violence against women campaign)
- Continue Support and Work towards Fairer Rent
