Mr ALEX FROST

Make students’ lives better. #Frost4President

Who am I?

I am someone who wants to represent you and your interests; I want to make your lives as students better. I also look very similar to Martin Clunes.

How am I going to do that?

To properly understand what is wanted by the student body, I will dedicate a period of up to two weeks getting feedback if I am elected. These weeks will take place before the end of this academic year, as to allow graduating and returning students the opportunity to improve the experience for upcoming students.

Modernize communication between Union and Student Body

To create a union snapchat as to relay event information.

Implement a student orientated method of changing the university. I would like to establish a formal process whereby any student can submit an idea or a change they would like to see in the university through a web-form submitted through the students’ union website.

Continue work with the current sabbatical team to further the transition of GM notions and votes online to the student portal; attendance is usually poor, either because students are otherwise busy, are not aware, or they forget.

Accommodation

The creation of a notice and review board for student accommodation, allowing students to share their experiences with landlords, letting agencies and properties.

Continuing the efforts with the Living Rent campaign.

NUS

Enter discussions to get more from NUS, the only immediate payoff is *cheap* alcohol in the union.

Support

Improve the support around Accommodation Liaison Students and any other applicable voluntary positions.

A constant promotion of the support services available to students. Having spoken to fresher’s, they aren’t entirely aware of the services at their disposal; this should either be addressed in the welcome literature they’re presented with upon arrival. That said, a map of Cottrell for each fresher pack isn’t a bad idea.

Communities

The continued reinforcement of autonomy for clubs and societies. As long as a general consensus has been reached amongst members on how to spend club/society funds, then that is entirely their prerogative.

The encouragement of student lead celebrations in culture and diversity in order to promote understanding and acceptance.
