our impact

The Students' Union is continuously looking at ways to improve sustainability on campus, promote biodiverse spaces and create learning opportunities for both students and staff. We have a strong trackrecord of actions on sustainability.

This includes:

  • First Students' Union in the UK to become carbon neutral!
  • Successfully lobbying the University to fully divest from fossil fuels and armaments.
  • Secured over £46,000 in funding for Cycling Infastructure on campus
  • Repeatedly achived an Excellent classification for the Green Impact Award run through SOS-UK
  • We introduced a new RATE Award cementing the Strategic Plan aim to embed sustainability in the curriculum
  • Our recycling program has saved over 37 tonnes from being thrown into general waste since 2013. This has saved over 600 tonnes of CO2 emissions!
  • Ran an Interhall Energy competition, which saved over 25 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and generated £1,000 in accommodation community funding and £4,822 of funding to be reinvested in to LED lighting.
  • Helped our Hedgehog Friendly Campus team acheive their Bonze Award
  • Helped our wonderful societies create the Stirling Climate Festival
