Hello and welcome to the University of Stirling Water Polo Club

The original rules for water polo were written in Scotland so where better to learn to play, or to continue your playing experience.

Two teams of 7 play an invasion oriented game based in a swimming pool - the aim of the game is to score goals past a goalkeeper into their opponents net.

Passing, catching, shooting and blocking all take place with one hand. Players can also swim with the ball. Similar to handball/netball...but in a pool

Fast paced and physical - great fun for all ability levels. Especially great for swimmers looking to break out of swimming lengths and add something fresh to their training.

We play in BUCS Scottish 1A, and national league and cup competitions and have regular friendlies with local clubs, as well as several multi-uni/multi-union events throughout the year.  There’s plenty of opportunity to get involved whether you’re an experienced campaigner or a complete novice.
