Futsal (a fast paced alternative to football played indoors with teams of 5 players) is one of the fastest growing sports in UK.
In 2015, University of Stirling Futsal Club finished 2nd in the National Championships after winning the Stirling District League. Being so close to qualifying to the preliminary round of UEFA Futsal Champions League only made the club grow.
In 2016, we had two teams playing in the Stirling District League and in BUCS competitions (British Universities and Colleges Sport). The 1st team won the Stirling District League and finished 4th in the country with a squad formed mostly by freshers. Winning against every other university in Scotland saw the 1st team earn promotion to the Premier North BUCS League. The 2nd team competed in the BUCS Trophy and finished third in Scotland's 1A BUCS League.
In 2017/18, after a difficult summer period, both teams competed in Scotland's BUCS 1A League with only small squads available. Despite this the 1st team dominated the league winning 9 games out of 10 (drawing the other) and comfortably winning the league for second time in 3 years.
In 2018/19 the 1st team won the BUCS Scottish 1A League again and the BUCS Premier League Playoffs, earning promotion to the BUCS Premier League (previously named BUCS Premier North) for the 2019/20 season. The 2nd team came 2nd in the BUCS Scottish 2A League whilst reaching the Semi-Final of the BUCS Scottish Conference Cup.
In 2019/20 the 1st team competed in the BUCS Premier League, the 2nd team competed in the BUCS Scottish Tier 2 (previously named Scottish 2A) and the Scottish Futsal Glasgow League, with both teams competing in various Cup competitions.
We are very much starting from scratch after a year and a half of not being able to play due to covid, so any new additions to the club are very welcome. Our ambition is to return to having two competitive teams who can compete with each other as well as the best teams in Scotland and the rest of the UK.
