Welcome!

Stirling University Netball Club (SUNC) is one of the largest clubs in our Sports Union and we welcome players of all abilities. We have 5 competitive teams and one social team; the top four teams represent the university in BUCS, playing on Wednesdays or Saturdays, the development team, also known as CNA, represents the university in the local league on the weekends, and the social team have a fun based training session on Monday evenings. This diverse range of teams allows the club to reach students of all abilities, so no matter your experience within the sport whether you have played before or even if you have never stepped on a court before, you are always welcome at SUNC. The two branches of SUNC (competition and socials) have amassed over 140 members with an equal split of girls between the two; meaning that no matter what you take part in, you will always know someone. It can be daunting to go to university, whether you have travelled far or are just around the corner, so to join a club such as this - where there are so many opportunities to meet people and get out and about will never be regretted.

For those who are interested in competitive play, the club hosts trials over a week usually just after 'freshers week'. These trials are held in the sports hall during the club's training slots (see below for more details), and are based on a sign-up - so if this is something that interests you please head over to our social media accounts for posts and updates, and message the club on Instagram if you have any questions.

If you are looking to meet new people and be involved in the club on a non-competitive basis, you may be more interested in our social team. As mentioned above, the social team has a training slot once a week on Monday evenings, however, it is not compulsory to attend - the social team is there for you to have fun! Have a bit of a runaround and meet new people, if and when you want to. The social team is usually coached by a couple of members within the competition teams, finding a balance between fun games and netball play,

The club also hosts regular social events outside of training which is a great way to socialise and meet new people at Stirling University. We try to get involved as much as possible whether that be charity work, hosting events, supporting other sports teams or getting involved within the local community. We have the opportunity to develop your skills through umpiring and coaching courses, as well as taking leadership roles within the club as captain of your team or being part of our fabulous committee. Whatever your experience with netball, you're guaranteed to get the most out of your University experience and make friends for life here at SUNC!

Training Times

With such a busy sports union, although training times are hoped to stay the same, sometimes it may not be feasible and are therefore subject to change. In order to keep up to date with any changes that may happen throughout the year please refer to our social media accounts or send us a message to confirm.

The training times as of the 2022/23 season are as follows;

Monday        7 - 9 am         BUCS training slot.

Monday        6 - 8 pm         Socials training slot.

Tuesday       7 - 9 am         BUCS training slot.

Wednesday      7 - 9 am        BUCS training slot.

Thursday      7:30 - 10 pm     BUCS training slot.

*Please note that the BUCS training times are broken down into teams and you will therefore not have to attend all slots a week*
