postgraduate students

Your Students' Union is just that, yours! We're here for every student, at every stage of their education journey. Whether that's starting out afresh as an Undergrad, or as a Postgraduate - taught or research.

We understand that Postgraduate students may engage with us in different ways, studying around many different lifestyles, personal circumstances and locations. We're always keen to hear more from you about how we can better support you, provide you with services and make your student life better.

Myth Busting

'Freshers Week is just for new 1st year students'

Absolutely not. Freshers Week is a welcome for every new and returning student to kick off the year with new opportunities, freebies, fun events and meeting new people. There's also a dedicated Postgrad Welcome Week. More information on Postgrad Welcome Week 2021 will be released soon.

'The Union bar is for Undergrads'

We run commercial outlets including a bar, catering, coffee shop (serving Starbucks favourites!) and these areas are for all students. If you have an idea for an event in any of these spaces, please get in touch at

'Postgrads can't join Clubs, Socs or Sports teams'

Of course you can! We understand that different modes of studying or family commitments can make it harder to engage with extra-curricular activities but with the majority of our Clubs & Socs thriving virtually, there's never been a better time to check them out - Clubs & Socs A-Z List.

We have over 50 Sports Union Clubs with many differing levels of involvement required, from playing as a social member to competing in worldwide competitions. If you are facing any barriers that are stopping you joining, please let us know. You can always reach out to the Sports President for more info at

There are thousands of ways you can engage with us and enrich your student experience as a Postgraduate student, from our work on Sustainability and our Community Garden to representing your fellow students as a Postgrad Faculty Officer.
