The Students' Union wished to advise members that the Vice President Education, Calum Brown, has informed the Trustee Board of his resignation from the post. Calum will continue to assist during this important handover month with the new team before finishing in the role at the end of June.
Commenting on his resignation, Calum noted, 'It has been an absolute pleasure serving as the Vice President Education at the Stirling Students’ Union for 2021/2022 academic year. It was also a privilege to be re-elected by the students in the recent Students’ Union Elections for the 2022/2023 academic year.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow Officers both this year and last, Students' Union and University staff and mostly importantly the student body for all the help and support I've had over the last year. I will never forget my time working at the University of Stirling Students' Union, however, in the best interests of my career and future, I now feel that the time is right to move on. Without Stirling University, I would not have the skills and opportunities to start my professional career journey. After studying here and gaining my BA(Hons) in Sports Studies, it is a great fulfilment to be able to accept a job with a National Governing Body of sport, specifically Scottish Swimming. I am leaving the Union with a heavy heart but also with great confidence in our new Sabbatical Officers, Tash, Jess and Murray.'
Everyone in the Students' Union wishes Calum well in his future career. In the meantime, the team will be ensuring that the key aspects of the role will be covered across the team and will look towards hosting a by-election in the autumn semester to fill the vacancy.
