Find out some of the ways to get involved with your Students' Union this coming semester
It’s all about Freshers’ Week just now but with such an amazing year ahead, don’t forget that there are so many ways to get involved with Your Students’ Union!
We want you to be a part of our goal, to make students’ lives better, and are delighted to offer loads of volunteering opportunities! We are Your Students’ Union, and are always looking for people to help make some amazing projects happen.
One of these is the very first Women in Sport 2014 conference, coming to campus on the 8th October. This flagship event will see top athletes and speakers from all aspects of sport share their experiences during the Union’s Equalities Week campaign. These include Commonwealth Silver Medallist Eilidh Child, Scottish Government Minister for Sport Shona Robison MSP, SFA National Women’s Team Head Coach Anna Signeul and Judy Murray. We still have opportunities for volunteers to make this event a success, so sign up today!
V-Team is a brand new initiative coming to the Students’ Union. Interested in volunteering but don’t know where to begin? Sign-up online and visit different projects around Stirling, try out some volunteering, meet some amazing people and make a real difference. There will be something for everything; from Christmas shoebox appeals to media focus groups, find out what’s really out there for volunteering in Stirling. Click here to find out more!
Once Freshers’ Week arrives, you will probably be able to spot our F-Team volunteers in their bright pink t-shirts! If you’re starting your University life this month, remember that they are on hand to answer any questions and help out where they can. Whether it is about moving into halls or finding out what exactly your students’ union is and does – they’ve all been in your shoes so don’t be afraid to ask! You can volunteer to be just as helpful next year, keep an eye out for advertisements next Spring.
Finally, we want you to be able to volunteer your opinion as well as your time. Stirling Students’ Forum has been developed by your Union in partnership with the University as a means of engaging directly with you, with the ultimate aim of enhancing your overall experience whilst at University. All students at the University are encouraged to participate in the Forum. All information and FAQs can be downloaded here. Click here to join the forum!
But that’s definitely not everything! There are so many ways to be a part of the Students’ Union. If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering either in Stirling or within the Union, you can contact alban.dickson@stir.ac.uk with any questions at all!
