Here’s some of what I’ve done in the last year… • Brought together a great committee • To make the station a lasting, marketable, product. 1) Keep the members and presenters we have built up over the last year excited and enjoying the station, through socials, interaction and banter - opens up the possibility of presenters submitting their work to professional stations, and gaining as much experience as possible. Student radio is creatively a very free place, we should be making the most of that!
• Completed the renovations of the station
• Brought together the society in end of semester awards
• Brought the station up to 42 shows a week in first semester, 48 a week this semester
• Built up a great knowledge of the Air3 and all involved in managing
• Air3’s National exposure.
- This lead to our taking part in the Student radio chart, which just a couple of weeks ago we broadcast to the whole nation.
- Joining the student radio station has brought us knowledge, networking and a host of great opportunities.
- Also helped up get a slot on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing show, allowing us to produce a 10minute package, for broadcast every month.
But there’s still a lot more noise to be made…
This involves a good few areas of the station, and would go further than just making us money. To make the happen, there are three stages involved
2) Then we encourage the members to produce great quality radio, and - make the most of the production room we have been building up this year. This will be done by:
- Completion and effective use of the production room facilities
- Holding of production workshops in jingles, package making and presenting
3) This will create a station that people really want to listen too, advertisers want to appear on and then all being well, the snowball effect will naturally happen.
• Communication with members / listeners
Work has to be done in regards to the members contact email system, over the summer I will look for a solution to giving each department / committee member access to a mail system akin to manager@air3live.com etc.
• Links with the university.
I would like to see Air3 being accessible on the university network, in computer labs etc. The way forward I see in doing this would be to engage the university actively in what we do and set up links where they can use us as a mouthpiece and a selling point to potential students.
I would also like to see greater integration with the film and media department and the radio courses.
I have ran Air3 for the last year and putting in all the enthusiasm and effort I have and loved it. I have made an impact on the station and would like to do it again; I still have the same energy, if not more and have plenty of new ideas for Air3’s unstoppable rise.
