Jennifer Savage I am currently Sports Union Vice President and have been a member of the Sports Union Executive for two years. As Vice President I have been working on daily basis with the current President; this has given me vital experience into the day to day running of the Sports Union and the ability to see areas where improvements can be made. I am currently President & Captain of the Ladies Gaelic Team; therefore I’m fully aware of the trials and tribulations of running a club. In addition to being Ladies Gaelic President, in my third year I took on the position of Men’s Gaelic President in attempt to re-construct a failing team. During my year as President, Men’s Gaelic rose from the ashes and for the first time in 7 years competed in the British Championships. In my third year I was awarded with the prestigious of Sports Personality of the Year award at the Sports Ball. Through my credentials and experience I feel I am the best candidate to represent you as Stirling University’s Sports Union President. If elected, I promise to pull through with these policies: Club development & progression - Providing a receptive environment that responds to the individual needs of each club. Ensuring every club meets its potential, whether it is in participation or performance, through regular strategy meetings. Setting unique targets every semester specific to each club in order to achieve its goals. I intend to have a meeting with clubs committee’s at the beginning of each semester and create a list of attainable goals for the clubs to strive toward. If elected, as Sports Union President I will endeavour to find resources to assist in reaching these goals, whether it be finding a coach, increasing participation or better training facilities. Encourage, promote and support the concept of Sport for All. This will be achieved through collaboration with SUSA’s liberation campaigns, campaigns officer and Vice President (Welfare & Education), amongst others. Increase convenience and accessibility to transport- I will endeavour to ensure that every club has at least one minibus driver and strive to increase minibus availability. I want to explore the potential possibility of purchasing a dedicated Sports Union minibus. Success - This year we 11 teams reached BUSA knockouts, big improvement from the last two years. Lets continue this success and get even more teams to BUSA knockout level! Continue to re-evaluate and develop methods of club funding, with particular emphasis on the Glow Deal (through consultation with SUSA’s permanent staff and elected officers who are in part responsible for this). Continue the good work already undertaken, and develop the proposal, to find the Sports Union a corporate sponsor. Maintain close links that have been forged between the Sports Union and SUSA in recent years, and strive to build even stronger relations between the two. Vote for me to create a sporting community that works for you!
