Womens' Campaign
Many people believe that equality between the sexes has been achieved. However there are many areas where women are not treated fairly or equally. For example, women still receive lower pay in comparison to men and their chances of promotion are far lower - something to consider when you next look around your tutor groups. You might all be doing the same work and making the same contribution, but will you all receive the same rewards?
The Women’s campaign believes in equality and that women should get what they work for and are entitled to.
The Union’s Women’s campaign is headed up by a Women’s Officer elected by fellow female students at the University to represent their views. It is also down to her to organise campaigns to highlight women’s issues. Previous examples include violation of women’s rights, discrimination, harassment, intimidation, assault and rape as part of the highly successful ‘NO MEANS NO’ campaign which was taken up nationally by NUS.
Jodie Hughes is the Union's Women's Officer and you can contact her through the Union Membership Office or leave her a message simply by clicking here.
