What is the ASC?

ASC stands for Advice and Support Centre. This is the place to go if you want advice and information on anything from academic and accommodation difficulties to personal and emotional problems. ASC holds a wealth of information on a whole range of subjects, so feel free to come in and have a browse. Alternatively you can come and chat to one of our team of fully trained student volu
nteers for information or just to talk through your worries with someone impartial.
As with all Union Welfare services, ASC is totally confidential and non-judgemental so whatever you are having trouble with you can get advice without worrying about anybody else finding out. Everyone goes through rough patches from time to time but now that you're part of the University of Stirling Students' Union you don't have to go through it alone.
Where is ASC?
ASC is very easy to find, in fact you have probably passed it a few times already. Head straight into the Student Union, go past Studio and through the double doors and on the right at the top of the stairs for Glow you'll find a door, head through there, veer right and you've found it! Feel free to go in and have a look around or come in and talk to someone.
How to get involved
Now you know a bit more about ASC you might be thinking "I could do that!" Well why don't you?
ASC is always looking for more volunteers and there are many reasons to get involved - here are just a few questions to consider
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then congratulations! You are exactly the kind of person we are looking for. The Union provides training for all our volunteers so contact the Union Welfare and get involved.
Alternatively, come along to our stall during Fresher's Week and get more information from one of our current volunteers. Once you've been trained you can decide how much time you would like to devote to ASC.
