Senate is the highest decision making body within the Student Union and also acts as our AGM, happening only once or twice a year.
As every student is a member of the Union, every student can attend and vote at a Senate.
Anything can be discussed at Senate, but decisions and debates do need to submitted beforehand. Many of the very important and crucial decisions facing the Union will need to go to a Senate, for example it is only Senate that can vote on amending the Constitution of the Union, the Students' Unions govering document.
At every Senate there is also the opportunity for students to question their Executive on any issue, and publically hold them to acocunt.
Finally every decision taken at senate has to be approved by a cross campus referenda afterward, giving every student the chance to then have a say.
Emergency Senates
These are very rare events that can be called for only a vitially important purpose. For example, they are required should the student body want to cast a vote of no-confidence in a student officer.
