Manifesto I would very much like to be elected as your engagement officer because I feel I would be able to make changes to help university students to get their voices heard. This would give them the chance to campaign about any issues they face with integration into the community and actively show there participation within this vibrant friendly community. I also feel that, I would like to further my experience with helping other students with their issues in any way possible. This will help me with my career pursuit into my chosen occupation by greatly enhancing my CV. I have a wide range of experience as can be seen below and I wish to utilise this knowledge to aid any student voices to be listened to effectively by others. I would like to benefit from this fortunate opportunity that I have been given to represent students on all levels throughout the university's diverse community. If I am elected, I will campaign to help more people to become integrated into the university's community and encourage them to participate by getting involved in any way they can afford to as regards time pressues and other limitations. I will also have some time set aside to devote my active listening skills through helping other students with their issues such as equality which I specialise in. I believe in access and equality for all. To fulfill this role, I will utilise my experiences from my participation with Haggeye. This is a three year funded project campaigning for awareness of blind and partially sighted people aged 12-25 years who live across Scotland. Recently, I have gained experience with Young Scot along with my volunteering experience from the Royal College of Surgeons museum and my three work experience placements to guide me through this role and beyond. Furthermore, I have a great understanding of students who have a variety of issues and I wish to support them in any way I can. This could be through liaising with other officers or members of staff or other organisations, if necessary to help them become as widely known and involved as it is possible to be in this amazing community. I have a firsthand experience of what it is like to be a student with a disability and have had many issues myself over the first semester of my course. I was lucky enough to study an hnc course at college last year which gave me some invaluable experience which I hope to pass this knowledge on to others as it is required in this role. I wish to aid any students who wish to make a difference along with a positive contribution to the community and encourage them to become involved in any aspect of life. Overall, I feel this incredible experience will aid me to be more integrated within the university's community and to acquire more friends and invaluable experience. Please vote for me as your engagement officer as I will be able to help you.
