Neil Farquhar Election Manifesto What I believe: • Student health is one of the most crucial factors in your university experience
Vote Neil Farquhar for Student Health Officer, and give me the opportunity to serve you, to be your voice and to bring about real change for the better. Thank you.
My name’s Neil Farquhar and I’m a student of Animal Biology at Stirling University. I’m running for the position of Student Health officer to put students firmly in charge of the issues surrounding student health. Student health, both physical and mental, is one of the most crucial factors that shapes your university experience. The position of Student Health officer is newly created and, if elected, I promise to forge this position into one that is strong and active –one that will win many rewards for students, and one that will put an end to a lack of student support. Sometimes it feels like we are powerless to make a difference for the better. Vote for me, and I will fight tirelessly to improve health standards at Stirling University, by doing what I do best –listening to my fellow students, and then using what I have heard to make real change for the better.
• There is great room for improvement at Stirling University in this area
• Even small things can make a real change for the better
• Student support must be readily available in a confidential, friendly and honest form
What I will do:
• I will engage with the University to bring about the full refurbishment and modernisation of all student halls –some of which don’t even currently meet H.M.O. standards
• I will campaign to greatly improve the quality of the food served in university restaurants –without sacrificing price, or flavour!
• I will campaign to increase awareness on sexual health, mental health and recreational drugs
• I will champion the University’s health schemes –these should be celebrated, not sidelined
• I will campaign to direct substantially more money towards sporting activity schemes
