Sara Dubler

My name is Sara Dubler, I am a 4th year international marketing and intercultural studies student. I am currently the President of the women’s basketball club and a member of the netball club. I am running for the position of Sports Union President. I am a very approachable, friendly and determined person, who feels very passionate about sport. I want to be given the chance to put my qualities to work to really lead and create a successful Sports Union which can respond to the needs of the students by bringing it into the 21st Century.

I came all the way from Switzerland largely because of the sport that was offered here. No other university I visited sold it to me or made me feel the passion and need to sign up for a club as much as Stirling did. This is the reaction I would like to see from ALL STUDENTS.

What we should strive for:

  1. Up the level of performance from our Sports Union!
  2. Promote sport for all!
  3. Successful and clear communication within the entire Sports Union and Students Union!
  4. Provide support for ALL CLUBS BIG OR SMALL!

Up the level of performance from our Sports Union!

  • We already have £ 30’000 for coaching, yet this does not cover the costs if every club were to have a coach. A corporate sponsor would help us generate more money for coaching and the Sports Union as a whole. I have already begun looking into the possibilities.
  • Get more sports clubs involved in the corporate identity that Hambleside have designed for us.
  • Help maximise clubs use of facilities and work with the Department to ensure facility issues are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
  • Make the Sports Union more dynamic by providing new innovative options available to all clubs, for example, organising pre-season training.
  • Encourage participation, more players = more opportunities!
  • Providing a fair sports union by ensuring that all sports union members and clubs are made aware of any performance programme or initiatives that are available.
  • Ensuring each club has the money needed to succeed in the following year.
  • Increase the opportunities for students to try out different sports throughout the academic year.

 Promote sport for all !

  • Work with the university departments, clubs and societies to make sport accessible to all.
  • Expand the social side of the sports union, through Glow and create new, fun events for everyone.
  • Talk to the study abroad department and discuss the possibility of sporting exchanges.
  • Ensure each club has a “sport for fun” element as well as their performance teams by providing more opportunities for social members.

Successful and clear communication within the entire Sports Union and Students Union!

  • Promote a community network within the sports union, so teams know when each other are playing, providing the opportunity to go support your fellow clubs at home matches.
  • Have a close contact with Brig, Air 3 radio and Air Tv, where our sporting results and achievements can be made known to the entire university.
  • A more hands on approach, attending as many fixtures, meetings, social events as possible so that I can get to know as many members of the Sports Union.
  • Make administration easier by making all payments online including club membership fees saving time and energy for the Sports Union and the sports clubs.

Provide support for ALL CLUBS BIG OR SMALL!

  • Discuss the goal(s) for each semester with the presidents of the clubs and work on a strategy for achieving them. Providing them with as much support as I can.
  • Be available to anyone needing advice or help.
  • Work on long-term strategies with each club.
  • Focus equally on the BUCS teams as well as the non-BUCS.

I am interested in finding out more about the diverse number of sports clubs in Stirling and ways of pushing them forward in the following year. First and foremost:

I believe in this Sports Union, I believe in our clubs, I believe in our members and sincerely believe in my ability to be your Sports Union President.

BELIEVE IN SARA
# 1 FOR SPORTS UNION PRESIDENT
