Jamie MacDonald #1 for Sports Union President The union’s work over the last year, to support and develop, to entertain and engage, has been focused on you, the students, and we think why stop there? There is so much that we have done this year which we can build on and improve in the coming year. There are so many students and so many issues that we can unite together to ensure that the actions and opinions of every student matter. What we will deliver for students: Increase Sports Clubs Budgets to £25,000 – this year we’ve increased sports clubs budgets from £6k to £14k. Next year we will up this to £25k so our clubs continue to improve. My Record: - Increase club budgets from £6,000 to £14,000 - Increased qualified club coaches from 10 to 21 - Increased capital equipment expenditure from £580 to £3,000 - Developed a new online Sports Union membership system - Hosted Stirling First national BUCS event in 4 years - Secured and implemented over £30,000 worth of coaching for this year and for next - Collaborated with Clubs and Socs to develop the unions first ever Give it a Go week - Developed a new Sports Union website and weekly newsletter - Increased Sports Union membership to the largest it has ever been - Successfully campaigned to repair sports facilities - Hosted - Abolished administration fines - Successfully campaigned to keep the sports union president ensuring the student voice is heard - Continually responded to student feedback giving students what they want
Implement £40,000 worth of coaching across the Sports
Have at least 35 clubs with qualified coach – This year the number of club coaches increase from around 10 to 21
Increase capital equipment funding to £5,000 – This year I increased spending from £580 to £3,000

Set up the Club’s Academy Training Initiative – This was promised last year and I will ensure this is in place in April 2010
Strategic plan for the Sports
Host the first ever ‘Stirling Games’ - A mini Olympics at Stirling set in April 2011 across at least 10 sports – This will boost our profile and raise much needed funds
Reward work done within Sports Clubs, Clubs and Socs and Course Reps – Nationally recognised accreditation for the hours of work students put into student activities, giving them experience and skills for after university.
Fight for Free Wednesday Afternoons – more and more students are getting classes on Wednesday afternoons, this is causing problems for people who want to get involved in sport or who have to work to fund themselves through uni. We will win back Wednesday afternoons for students!
Online sports and non sports clubs membership system – over 40% of students are involved in sports clubs or non sports clubs and societies; this brings with it a lot of administration. We will develop an online registration system letting you join what you want by simply logging onto your portal.
Reinvent the Glow deal – Sports and non sports clubs used to raise over 30K a year through this scheme and we are sure that this can happen again. Working with clubs and sports clubs in collaboration we will run nights that students want with all ticket money going to those clubs that were involved.
