Never before has a band at Transmission attracted so much attention as Aberdeen's the Xcerts. So much so that a healthy congregation of Air3radio members gathered in the students union just to listen to them sound check. The Xcerts produced a show that confirmed them as one of Scotland's front-runners for the big time. Singer Murray looked genuinely shocked as the words to "Crisis in the Slow Lane" were passionately thrown straight back at him. "Do You Feel Safe" got the crowd going whereas "Aberdeen 1987" gave the already enthusiastic audience another opportunity to stretch their vocal chords. An opportunity they were only too happy to take. Given this performance, a headline slot in some of Glasgow's larger venues is not far away.
